Thank you for listening, sharing, asking at our Creativity & Personal Challenges conversation 10/14, with @redsparrow_free! Here's some of our challenges: -comparing myself, my day-to-day, to an amalgamation of tens/hundreds of people showcasing their favorite & finished work -asking “am I worth this much?” when I’m earning well -asking “am I worthless?” when I’m not earning much -tying my actions to my worth as a human being -wanting each work to “represent who I am” -expecting each new thing to be a marked improvement over the last -being disappointed as soon as something is done and needing to do something new or “better” -wanting new ideas to come out fully formed -doubting while creating, asking “is this good/bad?” etc while trying to get things done -feeling pressured to post constantly, that I “owe” people Here's what's helped us: -Taking time to accept how I’m feeling & that it’s ok (it’s a habit to deny it or fan the flames) -physically get away from the work, the space -walking, jumping around to fave tunes -having energizing physical reminders in my space - quotes, testimonials, creations, etc. -reaching out to someone (or posting to ask folks to reach out to me) -using music to get in flow -realizing that I'm my harshest critic. I guess it's good to know the worst case. Woah, long tweet! Thanks for reading. Excited for more candidness, whether brief or on-going. (7/6) Is it too late to add... "knowing all this in theory, but still having hard times, feeling shame for that, & feeling shame for feeling shame..." to challenges? Add to what helped: "reminders & repetitions, realize it'll never feel perfect, have a good ol' chuckle & start!"
